Sara Arjun portrayed Ranveer Singh's wife and girlfriend in the spy thriller movie, Dhurandhar. She played the part of Yalina Jamali, a Pakistani politician's daughter who married Hamza Ali. The movie turned out to be a blockbuster success, but the 20-year age gap between the two caused controversy on social media long before its worldwide premiere. Sara Arjun has now opened up about the age gap controversy whilst praising her co-star Ranveer Singh.
Sara Arjun supported the casting, stating that she always knew it was appropriate given the plot. She talked about the controversy over the age disparity in the movie in an interview with NDTV.
Sara Arjun revealed that she had entirely cut herself off from social media before Dhurandhar's release, so the discussions over the age difference between her and Ranveer never truly got to her. She mentioned that avoiding social media helped her focus and block out the 'noise' around her. "All the noise on social media, right? And I'm not very active. I didn't partake in it much... I also feel everybody has an opinion. I really believe in 'live and let live'... It's their opinion... It doesn't do anything to how I think... I knew the story, and I knew it was justified, and that's it," she said.

Sara Arjun shared, "No matter who I work with in the future, I don't think anybody can top Ranveer; he has set the bar so high. As an actor, he's so involved in his own craft, but he also takes care of the whole set. He looks at it (filmmaking) as teamwork. He's equally involved in what you are doing, and equally involved in what the person on set was designing, the set is doing. So those things really matter. He carries all of us together."
