Allu Arjun’s grandmother, Smt Allu Kanakaratnam, passed away at the age of 94. She was the wife of veteran actor Allu Ramalingaiah. Her mortal remains have reportedly reached Allu Aravind’s residence and final rites are set to take place at Kokapet. As per reports, Arjun was in Mumbai at the time of death. After hearing the sad news, he rushed to Hyderabad. On the other hand, Ram Charan, was shooting for Peddi in Mysore and cancelled his shoot after hearing the news of the demise.

Ram and Allu are cousins. Their father, Allu Arvind and Chiranjeevi are brothers-in-law. Chiranjeevi is currently with Arvind and is making arrangements for the last rites. The superstar also took to X to share the sad news with his fans on X. Chiranjeevi tweeted, “Our mother-in-law.. The demise of Kanakarathnamma Garu, wife of Sri Allu Ramalingayya Garu, is extremely heartbreaking. The love, courage, and life values she showed to our families will forever be an inspiration to us. I pray to God that their sacred soul attains peace. Om Shanti.”

For the unversed, Allu Arjun was very close to his grandmother. In December last year, he was arrested in connection with the Pushpa 2 stampede case. He came back home after a day and his grandmother was waiting for him and hugged him tightly. Allu Arjun touched her feet and hugged her. After which, she was warding off the evil eye by performing a ritual. The emotional moment was captured by his admirers and went viral on social media.

Allu Kanakaratnam’s husband, Allu Ramalingaiah, was a legendary actor and Padma Shri awardee. The legendary actor was known for his work in movies like Yamudiki Mogudu, Donga, Yamagola, Goonda, Kirayi Kotigadu, Attaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu, Mahanagaramlo Mayagadu and Adavi Donga, to his credit. The veteran actor passed away at the age of 8 in July 2004.
