Pushpa 2: The Rule, the Telugu blockbuster starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles, was released in theatres on December 5, 2024. Now, the movie is set to release in Japan next year under the title Pushpa Kunrin. Interestingly, the first instalment of Pushpa was never released in Japan, but the success of its sequel has reached the global theatres. The makers of the film made the official announcement along with Pushpa 2's Japanese-language trailer. Read on to find out when Allu Arjun starrer will hit theatres in Japan.

Pushpa 2 Japan Release Date

Geek Pictures India, which is distributing the film in Japan, took to X and shared a poster with the announcement. Pushpa 2 will release in Japan on 16 January 2026.

Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Srivalli in the film, also shared the announcement. Her post read, "Konnichiwa, Japan!! Aaaand the wildfire is officially going global.. Pushpa lands in Japan on 16th Jan 2026.. are you ready??."

Earlier, several Telugu films have been released in Japan, including Jr NTR’s Devara, SS Rajamouli's RRR, Baahubali and others. All of them were positively received at the global theatres.

In 2024, Pushpa 2: The Rule was released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam. Directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings, the film revolves around the story of a labourer-turned-red sandalwood smuggler, Pushpa Raj. His journey from being a daily wage worker to heading a red sandalwood smuggling syndicate is filled with growing threats from enemies, including SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. Pushpa 2 became a massive hit upon its release at the box office, grossing over Rs 1800 crore globally.

The movie is also available for viewers on the OTT giant Netflix. Besides Allu Arjun and Rashmika in the lead roles, the film also stars Fahad Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Dhananjaya, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, and Sunil.

Following the success of Pushpa 2, the makers have already announced Pushpa 3.
