Bigg Boss 19: Bigg Boss 19 has officially begun streaming, and one of the most talked-about contestants this season is music composer Amaal Malik. His entry into the controversial reality show has sparked a wave of interest, not only because of his successful career in the music industry but also due to his much-publicised fallout with his family. The decision to step inside the Bigg Boss house has added a new layer of curiosity, especially since Amaal has been open about his personal battles, mental health, and the difficulties of building his own identity. His participation is already being seen as one of the major highlights of the season. On the opening night, Amaal shared the stage with host Salman Khan before finally walking into the Bigg Boss house. Shortly after the episode aired, Amaal’s father, Daboo Malik, broke his silence and explained what this step means for his son, expressing hope that the show could become a turning point in his career.
In a conversation with NDTV, Daboo spoke about how Amaal’s achievements often didn’t receive the same spotlight as other members of the family. He noted that while in his generation Anu Malik became a well-recognised composer, and today Armaan Malik enjoys huge popularity as a singer, Amaal’s success as a composer did not translate into widespread fame. He explained, “Amaal, with his great music and hard work, was not becoming the face. From the same family, suddenly one becomes a star like Armaan. And it always happens because a singer becomes more popular than a composer." According to Daboo, Amaal’s decision to join Bigg Boss 19 was motivated by something deeper than just exposure. “I think the feeling of not having an identity was a setback. In his heart, Amaal wants to be a star. And I hope this journey on a national platform will fulfill his dreams."

Describing the show as a rare opportunity, Daboo added, “Bigg Boss will give him that popularity, the face value, and the identity that ‘Here he is—the man who created the music.’" He shared his belief that the exposure will finally help Amaal be recognised not just as a composer of hit songs but as a public personality in his own right. Daboo also reflected on Amaal’s earlier revelations about depression and his feelings of being unsupported by his parents. He acknowledged those posts were the result of years of built-up struggles. “It was over a period of time many things over time affected him. At a spark of a moment, he felt like, ‘I need to tell the world what I am going through.’ So he posted on social media that he didn’t want to do anything with the family, that we were not understanding him. It was a cumulative effect of so many things that transpired in his life." Despite the strain, Daboo pointed out that Amaal’s brother, Armaan Malik, had always been supportive through his difficult times.
