Malayalam superstar Mohanlal as opted seeking re-election as AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) president. Kunchacko Boban and Vijayaraghavan are among the prominent figures being eyed as potential successors to lead AMMA, following Mohanlal's decision not to seek re-election as president.

Vijayaraghavan is being tipped as a strong contender to succeed Mohanlal as AMMA president, with sources suggesting he could win unopposed due to the respect he enjoys among peers if he officially enters the race. Meanwhile, actor Baburaj is gearing up to contest for the general secretary post, having expressed interest and preparing to file his nomination.

There's also buzz about actress Shwetha Menon potentially joining the fray for the same post, given her past experience in AMMA and strong candidacy. However, her participation remains unconfirmed.

Several notable actors, including Tovino Thomas, Tini Tom, Vinu Mohan, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Jayan Cherthala, and Suresh Krishna, are set to contest in AMMA's upcoming election.

Mohanlal resigned as president of AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists), and in a decisive move, the entire executive committee tendered their resignations as well. This collective action was prompted by the release of the Justice K Hema Committee's report, which laid bare the grim reality of harassment and abuse faced by women professionals in the Malayalam film industry.

The weight of the report's findings apparently proved too significant to ignore, leading to the unprecedented step of the resignations, which were formally submitted on August 27, 2024, marking a significant turning point for the organization as it confronted the challenges and criticisms that had been levied against it.
