Bollywood actors' expensive entourages have been the subject of a long-running dispute. A filmmaker recently disclosed that many Bollywood actors require six vanity vans on the set for a variety of purposes. Farah Khan and Rakesh Roshan had previously discussed how producers are impacted by growing entourage expenses, which drive up movie budgets. In fact, Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit and Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2 also sparked a heated internet debate this year - Are the Bollywood biggies asking for too much?  Amidst this, the details about the late actor Amrish Puri, who had only one makeup artist and drove his own car, have emerged on the internet.

Amrish Puri had no entourage, recalled veteran actor Saurabh Shukla while speaking to ANI. He talked about the continuous entourage costs in the Hindi film industry and heaped praises on the late actor. He said, "At that time, it was enough for me that I was cast in a film. It was a big film and with a big cast — Anil Kapoor, Amrish Puri. It was a good experience. We enjoyed a lot working on the film. It was also the first time I met Amrish Puri sahab. I met him at a time in my life when I would look at stars from a distance, and what we understood from being a star was that they carry an entourage with them (sic)."

Amrish Puri Had NO Entourage

Saurabh Shukla revealed that Amrish Puri had only one makeup artist in his entourage. "But on the set of the film, I got to know… by the way, Amrish Puri used to charge one rupee more than the lead actor in his films. This shows he was such a big star, but he didn’t have a secretary, and he didn’t have a driver. He had just a make-up man, that’s all (sic)."

Saurabh Shukla recalled asking Amrish Puri about his staff, to which the late actor quipped, "I asked him, 'Don't you have a staff?' He responded, 'Main pagal hoon kya? Paise main kamao aur banta rahoon staff mein. That is the reason I have come to this interview driving my own car, and I don’t go with an entourage (sic).'"
