Karan Johar has voiced worries about the large entourage of actors. The director clarified that the matter is 'ethical' rather than monetary. According to him, the issue requires attention because actors now need to be more gracious. He also talked about the costly entourages that performers frequently take, emphasizing moral issues over monetary ones.
Karan Johar recently stated on Komal Nahta's YouTube channel, Game Changers that he would prefer his children to pursue careers in makeup and hair design rather than acting. "Don’t even get me started on the charges the makeup and hair artists take today. In fact, I would want Roohi and Yash to become makeup and hair artists because they are earning more money than other people. Ek hair kare aur dusra make up (one should do the hair and the other should do makeup), it will be very beneficial for both of them," the filmmaker said.
Karan Johar joked that he has an ethical issue with celebrity entourages rather than a financial one when asked about his opinions on this topic. He added, "I am like humara budget yeh hai because we are business people, if you want more people, you give them then. If you are doing a sports biopic or biographical drama where your body is on display all the time on screen, then the producer will pay for it."
The filmmaker continued, "But if you are a regular hero, your job is to look good. If you want to eat healthy food, you eat, but why would I pay for it? Some actors we are giving budgets that this is the budget if you want to go forward then do it. There are many actors who are paying additions on their own. I think if you are getting a big fees and backend then do these on your own, show some grace. 6-8 log kyun karte hain travel aapke saath."
It's interesting that Karan Johar made these remarks at a time when Deepika Padukone has drawn widespread notice due to her purportedly low work hours and demanding entourage. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Deepika Padukone was fired from Kalki 2 last month because she was demanding a 25% pay increase and a seven-hour workday. The actor reportedly refused to budge when the producers tried to discuss these two demands with her.
Additionally, the same report stated that Deepika Padukone travels with a group of 25 people. The actor was reportedly also demanding five-star accommodations and payment for her team's meals during the shoot.
