Zubeen Garg Death: The untimely death of iconic Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has left the entire nation and the music industry in shock. Tributes have been pouring in ever since the news of his passing broke. He tragically passed away on September 19 following a scuba diving accident in Singapore. This happened ahead of his scheduled performance at the North East Festival, where he was set to perform on September 20 and 21. Amid the grief, singer Anu Malik, who has collaborated with the late artist on several movies, expressed his sorrow over the loss. He also revealed that Zubeen had been dealing with some health issues in the past.

Anu Malik Reveals Zubeen Garg Had Health Struggles

Anu Malik mourned the demise of the renowned Assamese singer and shared heartfelt memories of their time working with him. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he said, "He was such a gentle, loving soul. Ab isse zyaada koi kisi ke baare mein kya bol sakta hai?. I had met him first through a person from Assam. I made him sing in Fiza, and we got along like a house on fire. He was very emotional about his sister, who he had lost in an accident. He used to sing in Assamese, Bengali, Manipuri, Boro, even Marathi, he had told me! Malayali songs as well. His live-in concerts were deadly. Yeh khabar sunke mann khatta ho gaya hai."

Claiming that Zubeen had struggled with some health issues in the past, Anu added, “He used to tell me he has blackouts suddenly. I told him ‘go and get yourself checked.’ Then we lost track (of it) over the years. Usne phone bhi nahi kiya, chala gaya. The call of the hills, of his own Assam, was very strong."

Initial reports suggested that the Ya Ali hitmaker had died from injuries sustained during a scuba diving accident. Later, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that the singer passed away while swimming without a life jacket. His admirers gathered outside his home in Guwahati, Assam, after his mortal remains were brought home on Sunday. Emotional fans across the state paid tribute to the beloved singer Zubeen Garg, referred to as the 'King of Humming,' following his untimely death.

In the wake of Zubeen's passing, the Assam government has declared a three-day state mourning (September 20-22). The Assam CMO announced that no official entertainment, ceremonial programs, or public celebrations will be held during this period.
