Anupama Parameswaran visited Kerala's Cyber Crime Police after learning that a 20-year-old Tamil Nadu woman had been posting derogatory remarks and altered photos of her and her family on social media. Despite her decision to keep the bully's identity a secret, she will be pursuing legal action. The actor attested to the fact that the defendant set up multiple phony Instagram accounts in order to disseminate misleading information and offensive comments on her photos.
Anupama Parameswaran posted a message on Instagram about the recent harassment that she experienced from an Instagram account. "An Instagram account was circulating extremely inappropriate and false content about me, my family, and even tagging my friends and co-actors. The posts included morphed pictures and baseless allegations – it was deeply distressing to see such targeted harassment online."
Anupama revealed that additional research showed that the same person made other fictitious profiles with the intention of 'spreading hate' and leaving 'malicious content' comments on anything pertaining to her. It was discovered that the offender was a 20-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu after she filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police in her birthplace of Kerala. In recognition of her advanced age, the performer has decided not to reveal her identify.

Anupama Parameswaran added, "However, I am sharing this incident to make one thing very clear – owning a smartphone or having access to social media platforms does not give anyone the right to harass, defame or spread hatred against others. Every action online leaves a trace, and accountability will follow. Being an actor or public figure does not strip away basic rights. Cyberbullying is a punishable offence – and accountability is real."
