Anupamaa: Popular StarPlus serial Anupamaa is one of the most loved and highest-rated shows in the Television industry since its inception in 2020. The show not only won the hearts of the audience but also gave immense popularity to lead actress Rupali Ganguly. But many are unaware that Rupali was not the initial choice for Anupamaa. Another big television personality, who has been part of many bug starrer movies like Uri: The Surgical Strike, PK, God Tussi Great Ho, was the first approached for the role. Excited to know the name? It is none other than Rukhsar Rehman, who was offered Anupamaa before Rupali Ganguly.

In an interview with Saas Bahu Aur Betiyaan, Rukhsar Rehman was asked if she had been offered the lead role in Anupamaa. The actress confirmed and said, “Mujhe phone aaya tha Rajan Shahi ke office se, but I was doing OTT at that time and had a few things going on in life. So, I said not now, I would be able to do it after a few days. But no one ever knows in advance if a show will become so successful. But yes, I mean it’s all destiny. Maybe something better is waiting for me.” 

Anupamaa’s role was then offered to Rupali Ganguly, who gained huge fame in the industry. On the other hand,  Rukhsar Rehman is gearing up for her next project, Uttar Da Puttar, which stars Annu Kapoor in the lead role. The social drama has been directed by Ravinder Siwach. 

About Anupamaa 

The show revolves around a devoted wife and mother (played by Rupali Ganguly) who has been taken for granted for years. But she then chose herself and tries to reclaim her identity. Her role in the show has etched the emotional chords of the audience. The show has been topping the charts since its first premiere on July 13, 2020. Anupamaa is currently streaming on JioHotstar. The initial cast Sudhanshu Pandey, Madalsa Sharma and Gaurav Khanna, have exited from the show. Apart from Rupali Ganguly, Anupamaa now features Adrija Roy and Shivam Khajuria in key roles.
