Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is returning with season 2, 25 years after its debut on television. The show, led by Smriti Irani, is all set to premiere on July 29. Amid the anticipation surrounding the show's return, comparisons have also arisen with the Rupali Ganguly starrer Anupamaa, which holds the top spot in TV TRP ratings. Fans have been viewing Kyunki's return as a potential threat to Anupamaa. Now, Ektaa Kapoor has reacted to these comparisons between the two shows, calling them unfair and uncalled for, especially when it comes to pitting women against each other.

Ektaa Kapoor is all excited for Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, but also disappointed with the ongoing comparison with Anupamaa. In a recent interview with Brut, the producer said, “Yesterday, I was seeing some videos about Anupamaa having a problem with Kyunki’s coming. I felt that was such bad taste. She (Rupali Ganguly) is such a big star. Anupamaa, the show, Rajan, the creator, have done what nobody else could do in the last 7 years. They continue to be number 1, and they should continue to be number 1. We are coming with our purpose to tell our story."

Calling the comparison 'uncalled', Ektaa added, “These unfair comparisons between lead characters and lead shows are so unnecessary. I think pitting women against each other, pitting content against each other, is so uncalled for."
