Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan are one of Bollywood’s most loved on-screen pairs. After making their debut together in Student of the Year, the duo went on to win hearts with Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and its sequel Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017). Since then, fans have been eager to see them return for a third instalment in the popular Dulhania franchise. While there has been speculation for years, director Shashank Khaitan has finally given an update on whether Dulhania 3 will happen.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shashank Khaitan spoke about the possibility of reuniting Alia and Varun for another film. The director admitted that all of them are keen but are still waiting for the right story. He said, “We all want to come, whether it’s Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, or me, but we are still waiting for the right story. I think when we are all happy with the good story, we will definitely come up with it.” This statement has raised hopes among fans, but Khaitan was quick to clarify that nothing has been finalised yet. He explained that although they often discuss ideas, they do not want to rush into making a film just for the sake of continuing the franchise.

Furthermore, the filmmaker said, “There’s nothing that we are in talks about or something like that. We are talking all the time, we are discussing ideas all the time, but nothing has materialised so far. We are very responsible about how we want the franchise to go ahead, and we don’t want to make a film just for a project. We want to tell a good story, which will be engaging and fun. We have received so much love for the Dulhania series. We want to ensure that we don’t take the audience for granted.” This shows the team’s commitment to maintaining the quality of the franchise rather than rushing into production. Fans have shared their excitement across social media, expressing their hopes that the third instalment will eventually come to life, but only with the right storyline.

Varun Dhawan’s Work Front

At present, Varun Dhawan and Shashank Khaitan are working together on another project titled Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. The film, produced by Karan Johar, is set to release tomorrow, October 2. It features Janhvi Kapoor opposite Varun, along with Sanya Malhotra, Maniesh Paul, Akshay Oberoi, and Rohit Saraf in key roles.

Alia Bhatt’s Work Front

On the work front, Alia was last seen in Jigra. Up next, she will be seen in the action thriller Alpha, co-starring Sharvari and Bobby Deol. She also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited film Love and War in the pipeline, which will bring her back on screen with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
