Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma, one of the iconic Bollywood actor and director duos, have delivered some of the biggest hits in Hindi cinema. They have collaborated on films like Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Gadar 2, Apne and Singh Saab The Great. Anil Sharma recently confirmed that Apne 2 is on the cards and the script of the sequel is ready. However, it seems the director is set to deliver another grand film starring his favourite actor, Sunny Deol. According to reports, the film is a larger-than-life action drama titled Coal King.

Are Sunny Deol And Anil Sharma Teaming Up Again?

Anil Sharma reportedly met Sunny Deol to discuss about his next venture, which is going to be another action drama, in the backdrop of the coal mafia. As per a source quoted by Pinkvilla, it was revealed, “Anil Sharma and Sunny Deol have been discussing multiple original ideas over the last two years, and the one that excites both of them right now is a grand drama set against the backdrop of the coal mafia. The film is titled Coal King and will feature Sunny Deol in a never-before-seen avatar. The script has been completed, and they are currently working on the dialogue draft.”

Besides Coal King, Anil is also working on Gardar 3, which is expected to be a grand-scale period drama.

The source added, "Anil Sharma is also working on Gadar 3 as a big-scale period action film. A call on his immediate next will be taken by the end of this year, but the three scripts are presently being worked upon simultaneously."

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol has an exciting line-up of films in store for his fans. He has wrapped up shooting for Border 2, which is set to hit cinemas on 22nd January 2026. The film also stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Apart from this, he also has Aamir Khan’s production Lahore 1947 with Preity Zinta. The actor will also be seen playing Lord Hanuman in director Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi. Ramayana: Part 1 is slated to release in Diwali 2026.
