Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to team up with renowned filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya for the very first time, according to recent reports. Known for his unique choice of roles and versatile performances, Ayushmann is expected to take on the lead role in Barjatya’s upcoming romantic comedy. The project is reportedly a family-centric love story set in the backdrop of modern nuclear households and is likely to begin filming this November. The movie will also star Sharvari in the lead role, with her joining the shoot in December. 

According to a report in Pinkvilla, “Ayushmann is excited to play Prem on the big screen, and will play the titular character for Sooraj Barjatya from November 2025. He will be joined by Sharvari in the month of December.” The movie will be shot over a six-month period and is expected to release in the second half of 2026. The report further stated that “the script is locked and the maverick is now proceeding to cast the ensemble. Like always, the movie will have seasoned actors on board, and the casting is underway.” Sooraj Barjatya’s next is described as a light-hearted romantic story rooted in Indian family values, something the filmmaker is well-known for.

Sharvari Wagh, who is also starring alongside Alia Bhatt in Alpha, has reportedly impressed the filmmaker. “The actress has tick-marked all boxes of what Sooraj Barjatya wanted, specifically the aspect of bringing vulnerability and innocence to this heartfelt romantic film.” This upcoming movie will also mark the first on-screen collaboration between Ayushmann and Sharvari. “Sooraj Barjatya’s next will mark the collaboration of Ayushmann and Sharvari for the first time, and both the talents are excited to embark on the journey with the legendary filmmaker,” added the report.

Meanwhile, the Vicky Donor star has several other exciting projects in his pipeline. He will next be seen in an action comedy film with Sara Ali Khan, directed by Aakash Kaushik and produced by Karan Johar. This untitled movie is expected to release later this year. Additionally, he will appear in a horror comedy movie titled Thama, set to release during Diwali 2025.
