'Because Of Him, I Ruined My Career': Did Katrina Kaif Blame Ranbir Kapoor For Derailing Her Career?

Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's relationship was one of the most talked-about ones. Even though both eventually moved on and married different partners, many still remember them as one of the most captivating on-screen and off-screen couples. Their romance dominated headlines throughout the early 2010s, with constant speculation about their growing closeness, leaked holiday pictures and family involvement. Their bond went through many highs and lows, yet neither ever publicly explained the real reason behind their separation.

Speaking to Zahra Jani, veteran journalist Pooja Samant recalled meeting Katrina soon after the split and described her as deeply heartbroken.

She said, "When we went to YRF Studios to interview Katrina, she was weeping, crying like anything. She was saying I have made a mistake, and I am responsible for my loss of work," Pooja said. “She was crying and telling us that she fell in love with him and then things didn’t work out, and now we are not together anymore. But because of him, I ruined my career."

Pooja further added, "She must have thought that after marrying Ranbir, she would have become a Kapoor family member, and she must have thought that they didn’t allow their daughters-in-law to work in movies, at least that’s how it was back then, now things have changed. She let go of a lot of films. She was very disappointed."

Years later, life has taken a very different and fulfilling turn for both Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Ranbir is now married to actress Alia Bhatt and the couple has embraced parenthood with the arrival of their daughter, whom they named Raha. Katrina, too, has moved forward beautifully; she is happily married to actor Vicky Kaushal and in 2025, the couple welcomed their baby boy. Both former partners have built their own families and found stability, love, and happiness, showing how time can reshape lives and lead to fresh beginnings filled with warmth and contentment.
