Chaalbaaz Remake: The remake of late legendary actress Sridevi’s 1989 classic Chaalbaaz is creating a buzz lately for several reasons, especially for its casting. Initially, the film, titled Chaalbaaz in London, was announced in 2021 with Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role, but now Janhvi Kapoor’s name is emerging on the list. Confirming the same, producer Boney Kapoor revealed four producers are behind Janhvi for the Chaalbaaz remake, including himself. He also opened up about how he once was keen on remaking it with Deepika Padukone, but things changed.

'I Was Keen To Do Remake With Deepika': Boney Kapoor

Speculation surrounding a remake of the cult classic Chaalbaaz has been swirling in recent weeks. Adding to the anticipation, Boney Kapoor has shared some insight into the project. Confirming that multiple producers have shown interest in casting Janhvi as the lead in the iconic double role originally portrayed by her mother, Sridevi. He told ETimes, “I have no idea. There are many people who’ve been wanting to do Chaalbaaz with Janhvi. I don’t know if she’s made any commitment. But for sure there were more than three people who were after her to do it. And the fourth person was me."

Revamping the classic will not be easy, as Boney stated, "It is not an easy film to do. We’ve to upscale it, modernise it, and make it today’s film."

When asked about the film Chaalbaaz in London, with Shraddha Kapoor, it was announced initially, but has since been shelved. Reacting to this, Boney stated, “I can’t comment on that."

He also revealed that he once considered Deepika Padukone for the lead role and wanted to remake it with her. The producer added, “I know for sure that even at one point I was keen, in fact, I was keen to do it with Deepika (Padukone). But it didn’t materialise."

Clarifying that Chaalbaaz remake is still on a very early stage, he stated, "The chatter around Janhvi is too premature. And I have not even yet spoken to Janhvi because I’ve been travelling. I’m in Delhi right now. So now there are people, and producers who are keen to do it with Janhvi."
