Border 2 Update: Sunny Deol is set to reprise his role as Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri from the 1997 film Border in the upcoming sequel, Border 2. The war drama, scheduled for a Republic Day 2026 release, will see Deol once again in an Indian Army Officer's uniform after 28 years. The second installment also features Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty in significant roles. The makers of Border have recently announced a new actress joining the cast in key roles.
Border 2 makers officially announced that Sonam Bajwa is also roped in to play a key role in the movie. The makers shared a post with the caption, “Welcoming @sonambajwa to the #Border2 family, opposite @diljitdosanjh. A tale where grace and glory unite - releasing in cinemas on January 22, 2026.” Teaming up for their fifth collaboration, she will star opposite Diljit Dosanjh. Their previous successful ventures include the emotional drama Punjab 1984, the comedy Sardaar Ji 2, the action film Super Singh, and the beloved family entertainer Honsla Rakh. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 22, 2025. The addition of Sonam Bajwa to the already impressive cast has significantly amplified excitement among movie enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol, in conversation with Bollywood Bubble shared, “We are never sure about anything, you know. Just the excitement of doing something with the challenge is always more interesting. It’s riskier because there’s something to compare with. Par uske baare mein, jahan tak soch sakte ho, soch rahe the. Aadmi shuru karne se pehle, uske baad phir wo soch ke kaam nahi kar paayega. Shuru mein discussions ho jaati hain, jo bhi hain. Then we just have to go with the flow with it."

About Border 2 Movie
Border 2 also stars Medha Rana and Mona Singh as female leads. Helmed by Anurag Singh and the action-thriller movie is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. It is the sequel to Border, which was released in 1997. JP Dutta's original Border remains a cult classic in Indian Cinema. It is celebrated for its gripping storyline, which evokes patriotism, and for the terrific performances of its cast, including Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, and Akshaye Khanna. The film achieved a significant box office collection of Rs 66.70 crore in India alone.
