Following a directive from the Delhi High Court, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) conducted a thorough re-examination of the film Dhurandhar. This review was specifically initiated to address objections raised by the parents of the late Major Mohit Sharma, a recipient of the Ashoka Chakra. After this detailed inspection, the CBFC concluded that the film Dhurandhar contains no material or narrative elements that connect it to the life or story of Major Mohit Sharma.
CBFC Clears Dhurandhar
According to the CBFC, the Board has concluded that Dhurandhar bears no resemblance to the life, service or experiences of Major Sharma. According to a report in Hindustan Times, it stated, "Dhurandhar is a work of fiction and has no factual or biographical connection to the officer. The film contains an explicit disclaimer clarifying that all characters, events and storylines are fictitious and do not relate to any real persons, living or deceased."
Dhurandhar Certification Still Pending
The Examining Committee initially reviewed the film on November 28, 2025, recommending adult certification with minor cuts. After the High Court's directive, the CBFC reevaluated it but stuck to its original decision.
In court, the CBFC's counsel said the certification process was underway. Justice Sachin Datta noted a lack of proof linking the film to Major Sharma's life, as only the trailer was public. The Court asked the CBFC to consider objections before finalizing certification, which is now done.
