Ranveer Singh has issued an apology after facing wrath of netizens post his mimicry of a pivotal scene from Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1. This happened at the closing ceremony of IFFI 2025 in Goa when Singh was seen praising Rishab Shetty for his role in Kantara. However, his act was dubbed as 'incensitibe' by many. Not only this, his reference to daivas as 'ghosts' didn't sit well with the audience.

On Tuesday, Singh took to his IG Story and apologised for his remarks on Kantara. He wrote, "My intention was to highlight Rishabh's incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he has my utmost admiration (sic). I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I've hurt anyone's sentiments, I sincerely apologise."

At IFFI closing ceremony, Singh took the stage and paid tribute to Rishab Shetty. He re-enacted his iconic Daiva performance from Kantara: Chapter 1 and praised Shetty's work in the film. "I watched Kantara Chapter 1 in theatres, and Rishab, it was an outstanding performance, especially when the female ghost (Chamundi daiva) enters your body - that shot was amazing."

Rishab Shetty seemed amused, but some social media users slammed Singh's tribute as disrespectful, criticising his portrayal of daivas as "ghosts" instead of sacred forest deities. Things escalated when footage showed Shetty warning Singh not to mimic him, sparking more backlash.

On the professional front, Ranveer Singh is gearing up for Dhurandhar. Dhurandhar is an upcoming Hindi-language spy action thriller written, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar. Backed by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar under the banners of Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film features a powerful ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal, with Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in supporting roles. The story draws inspiration from real-life events, geopolitical tensions and RAW’s covert operations.
