Alia Faces Backlash For Best Actress Win For Jigra

Many netizens were not happy with her win in the popular Best Actress category for Jigra, especially considering the film's underwhelming box office performance.

One X user wrote, "I have a soft corner for #AliaBhatt but she DOESNOT deserve any award for that movie She was over acting in every frame and the whole story didnot go with her petite body and her OTT expressions. Horrible choice."

Another X user posted, "Alia was good in Jigra, but awarding her in the popular Category over Kriti or Bebo??? You gotcha kidding me. Truly nepotism rocks slow caps."

Another X post read, "no hate to alia she was good in jigra but this was the POPULAR category for best performance where all the other nominees had hit/successful films except jigra so this win doesn't makes sense to me. she deserved it in the critics category probably."

Amidst the backlash, some users came out in support of Alia. One post read, "Those who have seen the film know how Alia put her heart and soul in this movie, the brother sister bond seemed so real and she also aced in the action scenes. If Srk can win a national award for Jawan, Alia in Jigra ain't that bad either!"
