Coolie Box Office Report: Rajinikanth's Coolie, which was released with incredibly high anticipation, hasn't live up to its hype at the box office. The action movie did start strong on its first weekend, but it suffered greatly on weekdays, and it was obvious that the star studded movie would not perform to its full potential at the box office. Coolie kept up a steady pace at lesser levels and eventually ended its run at the Indian box office after four weeks in theaters. At Rs 284.84 crore (nett), the action film earned Rs 183.08 crore in Tamil, Rs 61.55 in Telugu, Rs 2.99 crore in Karnataka, and Rs 37.22 crore in Hindi. After earning Rs 179.7 crore from foreign and Rs 337.3 crore from Indian sales, the film's total global collection is Rs 517 crore, as per sacnilk.

Coolie Hit Or Flop?

Coolie has become the fourth Tamil movie to reach the Rs 500 crore mark at the global box office, making it the fourth highest grossing Tamil film ever. Nevertheless, according to media reports, the Rajinikanth-starring film has lost money for all of its foreign distributors. The mass action entertainer has earned $20.25 million, or around Rs 180 crore, in foreign markets; however, according to sources, it has to reach at least Rs 200 crore to break even. This implies that its foreign distributors suffered financial losses.

Additionally, according to a Koimoi report, Coolie also lost money in Tamil Nadu. The movie only made Rs 147 crore in Tamil Nadu over its entire domestic run, against expectations that it would earn at least Rs 200 crore.

Coolie Budget And Cast Fee

Coolie was developed on an enormous budget of Rs 350 crore, which included Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj's fees, according to a report by Pinkvilla. One of the highest upfront salaries ever received by a performer is Rs 150 crore, which Rajinikanth received for Coolie. For Coolie, Lokesh Kanagaraj received a pay check for Rs 50 crore. The film's production costs, including those of the other cast members, totaled the remainder Rs 150 crore.

Coolie Is Streaming On Prime Video

Coolie also starred Aamir Khan, Soubin Shahir, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, and Upendra in important roles in addition to Rajinikanth. The movie is streaming on Amazon Prime beginning September 11, 2025, over a month after its theatrical debut. Originally produced in Tamil, the movie is also accessible in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
