Kannada superstar Darshan and former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna didn't participate in the 79th Independence Day celebrations at Bengaluru Central Prison. Darshan was arrested on August 14 after the Supreme Court canceled his bail in connection with the sensational fan murder case. Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, has been in prison for over a year and was recently convicted to life imprisonment until death for his involvement in an obscene video and rape case.

Both Darshan and Prajwal Revanna reportedly chose to stay in their barracks due to depression stemming from their recent developments. Darshan had been assigned prisoner number 7314, while his partner Pavitra Gowda, also an accused in the fan murder case, has prisoner number 7313.

Prajwal Revanna, on the other hand, was assigned inmate number 15528 at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, where he's serving his life term. As a life-term convict, Prajwal Revanna has been provided a white uniform and is required to perform eight hours of labor daily inside the prison facility, earning a daily wage of Rs 524 for unskilled work.

According to reports, Darshan and Pavithra have been housed together in the same barrack with two other accused individuals. Darshan didn't sleep the night before, indicating his distressed state. Notably, some fans got tattoos of his prisoner number during his last arrest, sparking controversy.

Renukaswamy Murder Case

The case involves the alleged abduction and torture of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, a fan who sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda. Darshan had earlier confessed to torturing Renukaswamy brfore murdering him. According to the 3,991-page chargesheet, Darshan admitted to hitting Renukaswamy with a tree branch and kicking him repeatedly on the head, chest and near the neck. He also revealed that he instructed his fans to kidnap Renukaswamy and "teach him a lesson".

The chargesheet highlights that Pavithra Gowda instigated the other accused, conspired with them and participated in the crime, making her a key figure in the case.
