Dhurandhar, which was based on actual events, was inspired by real-life gangsters and criminals who were active in the Lyari neighbourhood of Karachi. Uzair Baloch (played by Danish Pandor) was one of the characters who rose to fame in the community after his ganster brother Rehman Dakait was killed. His name became closely linked to some of the most horrible deeds in Lyari's history. Gangster Arshad Pappu is said to have been killed by him.

Dhurandhar concluded on a dramatic note when Ranveer's Hamza, along with Sanjay Dutt's Chaudhry Aslam Khan, killed Akshaye Khanna's Rehman Dakait. Danish Pandor's character (Uzair Baloch) arrives to the hospital near the end of the movie and sobs in Hamza's arms because he has no idea that who killed his elder brother. An old interview with Uzair Baloch has been going viral while Dhurandhar continues to make waves at the box office and in people's hearts.

Dhurandhar's real-life gangster Uzair Baloch discussed his work, insisted he never killed anyone, and gave an explanation for why the people of Pakistan's Lyari neighbourhood love him.

The interviewer first brought up the fact that Uzair Baloch had built a whole water counter within his home, yet Lyari did not even have regular access to water. He wondered how Uzair Baloch could have such an opulent life while those around him were having difficulty meeting their fundamental needs.

Uzair Baloch defended himself, saying "Allah ne mujhe ye cheezein di hai, aur ye cheezein main apni avaam ke saath baant raha hoon. Aap mere saath chaliye, main aapko dikha deta hoon ki avaam mujhse kitni mohabbat karti hai aur maine unke liye kitna kiya hai. Main ek masjid mein ailaan karunga, aur aap dekhenge ki sab log nikal kar aa jaayenge. Main unke saath har dukh-takleef mein shaamil raha hoon—chahe bhookh ho, paani ka masla ho, ya rozgaar ka."

Uzair Baloch Denies Killing Anyone

The interview's most shocking part was probably when the gangster was questioned about murders connected to him. Uzair Baloch said, "Maine ek cheenti bhi nahi maar. Maine qatal sirf is maayne mein kiya hai ki maine avaam ke rozgaar ke masle par awaaz uthayi. Maine avaam ke liye jaddojehad ki, apni Lyari ke liye hospitals theek karwaye. Agar gareebon ke liye awaaz uthana qatal hai, agar is wajah se mujhe qatil ya don kaha jaata hai, toh phir ye aap logon ki marzi hai."

Dhurandhar chronicles the adventures of Indian agent Hamza Ali Mazhari, portrayed by Ranveer Singh, who infiltrates Rahman's gang in Lyari and reveals the connections between businesspeople, politicians, criminal organizations, and the ISI that enable cross-border terrorism against India. The movie's second installment will be released on March 19, 2026.
