Known for his chart-topping tracks and global recognition, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in his car on 29 May 2022 in Jawaharke village of Mansa at age of 28. This came after Sidhu’s security was downgraded in preparation for the anniversary of Operation Blue Star. The 295 hitmaker was left with two commandos instead of the earlier four. Moosewala was travelling in his private car and not the bullet-proof vehicle with the commandos, as per his friends.
What is Operation Blue Star?
Operation Blue Star was a military operation conducted by the Indian Armed Forces from June 1 to 10, 1984, aimed at removing Sikh militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his followers from the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) and its surrounding buildings, a sacred site in Sikhism.
Did Sidhu Moosewala predict his own death?
Bigg Boss 18 contestant Tajinder Bagga claimed that the Dark Love singer was warned about his death by an astrologer ahead of his murder. According to reports, the astrologer advised Moosewala to leave India. He did consider it, but was killed a few days later. A report stated that fans believe Sidhu Moosewala had hinted at his death in The Last Ride which was released ahead of his murder.
Autopsy and Cremation
Five doctors carried out Sidhu’s autopsy. According to post mortem reports, the singer was shot 19 times and he died within 15 minutes of being shot.
Sidhu Moosewala was cremated in his ancestral village on May 31. His last rites were performed on his farmland.
Who Killed Sidhu Moosewala?
Sidhu Mooswala was killed by the members of Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Goldy Brar was held responsible for his murder. Police stated that it was a result of an inter-gang rivalry. Later, the Punjab Police later confirmed Bishnoi's involvement, according to Wikipedia.
Why was Sidhu Moosewala famous?
Moose Wala rose to prominence with hits like So High, Issa Jatt and Bambiha Bole, which gained him global fame. He became one of the few Punjabi artists to achieve international recognition, performing at major music festivals like the Wireless Festival in the UK. His debut album, PBX 1, charted on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. Not only this, his single 47 also appeared on the UK Singles Chart.

Sidhu Moosewala Death Anniversary
To mark his third death anniversary on May 29, Sidhu’s father Balkaur Singh, will organise a simple program, continuing the tradition observed every year. The ceremony will start at 10 am at Village Moosa (Mansa). The poster shared by Balkaur Singh read, “You are humbly requested to join the recitation of Shri Sehaj Path Ji.”
