Don 3 Update: Filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar has finally given a much-awaited update on Don 3, confirming that the upcoming Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon starrer will go on floors next year. His statement has put an end to months of speculation and revived excitement around the third chapter of the iconic action franchise. Farhan has been enjoying appreciation for 120 Bahadur, a war film based on Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and the 1962 Indo-China conflict.
Farhan Akhtar, who is currently receiving praise for his latest film 120 Bahadur, revealed the update in a conversation with Filmfare. When asked about Don 3, he said, “We start filming next year. That’s probably the biggest update that I can give you.” This official confirmation comes after constant rumours that the film had been postponed or quietly shelved. Fans of the franchise had been waiting for a clear statement since the last major announcement in 2023. Despite the attention on his war drama, Farhan’s update on the next Don instalment has taken centre stage, especially among fans eager to see how the franchise will evolve under a new lead actor.

Don 3 will introduce a new phase to the franchise with Ranveer Singh stepping into the role of the charismatic criminal mastermind. The character was previously portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011), and by Amitabh Bachchan in the original 1978 classic. Ranveer’s casting sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans strongly attached to Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic interpretation. Kriti Sanon Confirmed As Female Lead For Don 3
Meanwhile, Excel Entertainment recently released an update confirming that Kriti Sanon will star opposite Ranveer Singh in Don 3. The production house added that Farhan Akhtar is preparing to begin filming in January 2026, reaffirming the timeline he shared in interviews. There are also strong rumours that Shah Rukh Khan may make a special cameo appearance, although the makers have not officially confirmed this.
