Aishwarya Rai has raised her voice against street harassment, making it clear that the burden should never fall on the woman, or on her dress, lipstick and choices. The actress spoke about the issue as part of L'Oreal Paris’ Stand Up training program. The video of same is now doing rounds on social media in which Rai could be seen saying, "Street harassment. How do you deal with it?"

She said in the video, "Avoid eye contact No. Look the problem directly in the eyes. Hold your head high. Feminine and feminist, my body, my worth. Never compromise your worth. Do not doubt yourself. Stand up for your worth. Don't blame your dress or your lipstick. Street harassment is never your fault."

Social media users widely applauded Aishwarya for openly addressing an issue that many experience but is rarely discussed, praising her for highlighting the reality of street harassment. Comments poured in, calling it "so real and not spoken about enough" and a "powerful reminder and important message for young girls and women everywhere."

On the professional front, Aishwarya Rai was last seen in Ponniyin Selvan. This is the first of two cinematic parts, produced by Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah for Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions and is loosely adapted from Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel, Ponniyin Selvan. Ponniyin Selvan: II hit theatres worldwide on 28 April 2023 in standard, IMAX, 4DX and EPIQ formats, earning positive reviews from critics. The film was also showcased in the mainstream section of the 54th IFFI Indian Panorama. In the film, Aishwarya Rai essayed dual role, and her performance was hailed by fans and critics alike.

The film also star Vikram, Ravi Mohan (as the title character), Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayaram, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, R. Parthiban and others. Ponniyin Selvan 2 had a worldwide gross box office collection of approximately Rs 344.63 crore. The film's India net collection was around Rs 181.96 crore. It was the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023.
