Tamil Movie Kaantha Details

Kaantha tells the story of M.K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar’s rise to fame and the personal challenges he faced during the 1950s. Set in post-independence Madras, the film promises to capture the essence of Tamil cinema’s golden age. Dulquer steps into the role of Bhagavathar and is believed to have delivered a performance that is both powerful and immersive.

Meanwhile, the teaser has a runtime of 2 minutes and 14 seconds, and offers a beautifully crafted look into the vintage world that Bhagavathar belonged to. Backed by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media and Dulquer Salmaan’s own production banner, Wayfarer Films, the film is a joint venture that blends legacy and new-age storytelling. Initially, Dulquer joined the film only as the lead actor but later came on board as co-producer.

In an interview with THR India, Rana Daggubati explained why Dulquer was the natural choice for the role. “Each story decides who its actor is in some manner, and everyone is right for a certain role… The second I heard it, I didn’t see anyone but Dulquer in it. So I was like, if he was not in it, we probably wouldn’t have made the film," he said.
