Ileana D’Cruz was already a popular face in the South film industry when she made her Bollywood debut in 2012 with Anurag Basu’s movie Barfi. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, along with Ileana D’Cruz, has completed 13 years of receiving love and appreciation from the viewers. In 2012, when Ileana tried her luck with Hindi movies, she succeeded in achieving the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her role as Shruti in Barfi. Among all the good moments and memories she created, the actress also encountered a serious situation on the sets of Barfi, which almost made her leave the movie.

Ileana D’Cruz, during a recent interview with NDTV, recalled her experience on the sets and revealed that once, the movie’s director, Anurag Basu, lashed out at her terribly, which made her almost quit the movie. The actress shared, “One morning, I just walked in super happy in the morning on set and I was like, hey, how's it going? And he was in a very bad mood. Something ticked him off and he lashed out on me and I got really offended. So, I said, Dada, listen, if you think I'm not right, for this role and if you're not happy with the work I've done, I'll leave. I'm not going to sue you. I will leave.”

She added, “I love the story so much and it won't make me happy to be in a film like this if you don't think I'm right for the part. He went one way I went the other way crying and called the producer. And I said, no, I'm leaving.” Further, the actress expressed that she called Vidya Balan’s husband, Siddharth Roy Kapur, as he was the producer of the movie and narrated the entire incident to him.

Siddharth asked Ileana to go and continue the scenes as he was on his way to the sets. “So I go, get ready, have my makeup on, And Dada comes walking back in and he's the only one who used to call me Ilu. I don't allow anybody call me Ilu. And he just simply said that I walked in at a bad time, and not to take him seriously. We laughed it off and hugged it out.” she explained.

Despite seeing several mixed responses from the audience, Barfi turned out to be a special film in the history of Bollywood. Made on a decent budget of Rs 30 crore, the film made Rs 175 crore worldwide and was selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
