Bollywood celebrated 100 glorious years in 2013 when the Hindi film industry was witnessing a high, both critically and at the office. While the movies were doing good at that time, it was also the year when Bollywood got its first ever Rs 500 crore film at the box office. Among several highly anticipated releases, 2013 gave us Dhoom 3 which released on December 20. It emerged as the year’s top-grossing movie and created quite a stir because the Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Abhishek Bachchan starrer was the first Indian movie to create history of achieving Rs 500 crore at the box office.

About Dhoom 3 Movie

Helmed by Vijay Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner Yash Raj Films, Dhoom 3 became one of the most expensive movies at that time. According to a report in Sacnilk, the production cost ranged from Rs 100 crore to Rs 175 crore. Dhoom 3 became a phenomenal success at the box office with a total India net collection of Rs 284.27 crore, an overseas collection of Rs 186.00 crore and an India gross collection of Rs 372.00 crore. Moreover, it went on to surpass the Rs 500 crore milestone globally, becoming the first Indian movie to achieve this remarkable feat.

Dhoom 3, a sequel to the 2004 movie Dhoom and its 2006 follow-up Dhoom 2, garnered widespread appeal and became a major blockbuster. The movie was praised by audiences for its remarkable performances, grand action sequences and impeccable storyline. It not only became the highest-grossing film of the year but also shattered records, accumulating a global collection of Rs 556 crore and cementing its place as a cinematic hit.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan was part of the three Dhoom franchise sequels and gained immense popularity with his acting and action scenes in the movies. In his illustrious Bollywood career he has delivered major hits like Guru, Bunty Aur Babli, and Players, among others. The Manmarziyaan actor recently appeared in Housefull 5, a comedy thriller released on June 6, co-starring Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh. The movie has made a net collection of Rs 162.15 crore to date, according to Sacnilk.

On the other hand, Aamir Khan, the acclaimed actor known for his roles in blockbusters such as PK, 3 Idiots, Dangal, and Ghajini, is currently gearing up for his upcoming movie, Sitaare Zameen Par. This highly anticipated movie is the sequel to the 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. Throughout his career, the Lagaan actor has consistently blended commercial success with impactful narratives. Scheduled for release on June 20, 2025, Sitaare Zameen Par will also feature Genelia Deshmukh alongside him, promising to bring additional charm and depth to the story.
