Released in 2007, the original film Awarapan starred Emraan Hashmi, Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana. The film became a fan-favourite, thanks to Emraan Hashmi's portrayal of Shivam, a henchman working for a Hong Kong-based gangster named Malik (played by Ashutosh Rana). Shivam was assigned a mission to keep an eye on his boss’s mistress, Reema (Shriya Saran). However, he defies Malik’s orders to kill her and instead helps her reunite with her lover, embarking on a dangerous journey of redemption. Disha Patani is expected to join the star cast of Awarapan 2. Reportedly, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on April 3, 2026.
