Salman Khan's Sikandar might not have done well at the box office; in fact, many critics called it his 'weakest' movie. The actor, nevertheless, has no regrets about starring in the action thriller, also featuring Rashmika Mandanna. He has, however, criticized AR Murugadoss, the film's director, for his 'coming late on set' jibe. Speaking about his most recent release, Sikandar, Salman Khan slammed the filmmaker for his remarks on the actor's tardiness on the set during the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 19.

Salman Khan was asked to list the films he regretted making by comedian Ravi Gupta, who was present at the performance. In retrospect, the actor named Nishchay (1992) and Suryavanshi (1992). When asked about any latest films he regretted doing, the actor said, "Nayi mein se koi nahi hai… log kehte hain Sikandar par main nahi manta, uska plot bahut acha tha."

Salman Khan then slammed AR Murugadoss for his comments after Sikandar’s failure at the box office. "Lekin kya hai na mein main set pe raat ke 9 baje pahuchta tha, toh usme gadbad ho gayi. Meri pasaliyan tooti thi, isne jo hamare director (AR Murugadoss) sahab hain unhone ye kaha. Lekin unki picture (Madharaasi) abhi ek release hui hai jisme actor 6 baje pahuchta tha."

AR Murugadoss discussed the reasons why the Sikandar didn't fare well at the box office in an interview with Valaipechu Voice. The filmmaker said, "It’s not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we have to shoot at night because he turns up on set only by 8 PM. We are used to shooting right from early mornings, but that’s not how things work there."

He added, "If there were four kids in a scene, we would have to shoot with them at 2 AM, even if it’s the shot of them returning from school! They would become tired by that time and usually dozed off."

Sikandar stars Sanjay Rajkot (Salman) sets out on a mission to defend three people in Mumbai who have got his late wife, Saishri's (played by Rashika Mandanna) organ. He also faces threats from a resentful politician. According to Sacnilk, despite having a reported budget of Rs 200 crore, the movie only made Rs 185 crore globally.
