Girija Oak is now one of the most trending names on social media. The buzz started after her interview, wearing a blue saree set the internet on fire. But that's not the only introduction; Girija is also widely known for her work in Taare Zameen Par and Ladies Special. Her work has been getting highlighted wherever her name has been associated with. Amid the huge popularity, the actress was also a victim of AI. Her AI morphed vulgar photos have been circulating online on social media, which led Girija to feel ‘sexualised and objectified beyond comfort’. The deepfake images brought nasty comments from several users.
In an interview with News18, Girija Oak broke her silence on the deepfake images. She said, “Eventually, you become thick-skinned. I started acting very early on in my life. I’ve been around for 20-25 years now. Now when some things happen, you take it with a pinch of salt.”
She continued, “This time around, I’ll be lying if I say that I wasn’t affected at all. I’m not an insensitive, stone-hearted person. I’m a human being and things will get to me. But eventually, you’ve to work your way around it and figure out mechanisms to deal with it. But what appals me sometimes is the entitlement with which men message. It’s quite amusing. I don’t know what else to say.”

Girija Oak, who comes from a broken family, understands the importance of an outsider’s perspective. She acknowledged that it’s not easy to bare one’s heart to family members. She further added, “That snowballs into miscommunication and maybe even misunderstandings. These things happen in every family. There are times when I can’t share certain things with my mother, maybe because she knows me too well. Had she been a stranger, I would’ve been able to open up to her. That’s why it’s important for a therapist to be there so that you can just talk to them.”
“They’ll always help you look at situations objectively and that really helps. They aren’t involved with your family. They’re able to look at things happening in your interpersonal relationships through a bird’s eye perspective. A therapist also tells you the truth – things that you otherwise cannot say in front of your family. Some conversations cannot happen within a family. You need an outsider’s view sometimes,” she also said.
