Haiwaan: After a long gap of 17 years, Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are finally teaming up again for an exciting new movie titled Haiwaan. Directed by  filmmaker Priyadarshan, the movie was officially announced through a special Instagram post that left fans buzzing with excitement. On Tuesday, Priyadarshan shared a candid picture of Akshay and Saif taken at the India vs England Test match held at Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London. 

Priyadarshan shared the picture on Instagram with the caption, “Haiwaan – my next film with @akshaykumar and Saif Ali Khan at Lords.” In the photo, the two actors can be seen enjoying the game. Saif Ali Khan, dressed casually in a blue shirt, appears deeply focused on the match, while Akshay Kumar, looking sharp in a beige blazer over a white shirt, is seen chatting with him. The announcement has created a storm on social media, with fans overjoyed about the reunion.

Fans Reaction On The Post

Comments poured in almost instantly. One fan wrote, “Another blockbuster in the making!” while another wrote, “Akshay Kumar + Priyadarshan = best combination!” However, a few fans couldn’t resist mentioning another much-anticipated film. One user commented, “Pehle Hera Pheri 3 banao, baad mein jo chahe karo,” urging the director to prioritise the third part of the popular Hera Pheri series.

What Is Haiwaan Movie About?

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Haiwaan is said to be a remake of the 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam, which originally starred Mohanlal. The twist in the upcoming movie is that Akshay Kumar plays the villain in the film which is unusual from usual heroic roles. Meanwhile, Hindustan Times reported that both Akshay and Saif were excited about the script. The report described the project as a “nail-biting and entertaining thriller” that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats.

On the other hand, the film is all set to go on floors in August 2025, with a release date scheduled sometime in 2026. This marks Priyadarshan’s latest directorial after his long-standing success in Bollywood, especially known for hit comedies like Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Hungama. Haiwaan will be Akshay and Saif’s first film together since their 2008 action-comedy Tashan. Over the years, the duo has shared great on-screen chemistry in films like Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Yeh Dillagi among others. Their reunion is being seen as a major moment for fans of classic 90s and early 2000s Bollywood.
