Akshay Kumar is all set to reprise his role as the sharp and clever lawyer in the much-awaited courtroom drama Jolly LLB 3. The third instalment in the hit franchise has already got fans excited, especially with the twist of having both Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi together for the first time. Arshad led the original Jolly LLB, while Akshay stepped into the role in Jolly LLB 2. Now, with both actors sharing screen space, audiences can expect an epic courtroom face-off under the direction of Subhash Kapoor, who returns to helm the project once again.

Jolly LLB 3 was earlier scheduled to release in cinemas on 19th September 2025. However, in a new update, the makers are now looking at a new release date that could give the film an even bigger opening. As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, Jolly LLB 3 is now aiming for a 2nd October 2025 release, which is Gandhi Jayanti and a national holiday in India. The report states, “Jolly LLB 3 has shaped up really well and promises to be one of the most exciting films of the year.”

Meanwhile, the report further added, “After seeing the final cut, the producers believe that the film deserves a holiday release to reach wider audiences. That’s why 2 October, which is Gandhi Jayanti and a national holiday, is now being considered.” Holiday releases have historically drawn larger audiences to theatres, and with the Jolly LLB franchise having a loyal fan base, this date change could prove beneficial.

Box Office Clash: Jolly LLB 3 vs Kantara 2

On the other hand, the highly anticipated Kantara 2, a sequel to the Kannada blockbuster Kantara, is also scheduled to release on 2nd October 2025. This opens up the possibility of a major box office clash. 

However, the Jolly LLB 3 team seems unfazed. The report mentioned, “Even if Kantara 2 doesn’t move its date, the team of Jolly LLB 3 is confident. It’s a strong franchise with a loyal fanbase. A clash won’t affect it as much, and Gandhi Jayanti is a big holiday that can handle two releases.”

Another reason the Jolly LLB team is less concerned about the clash is the film’s budget. The movie is made on a controlled budget compared to Rishab Shetty’s Kantara 2, which reportedly has more at stake. “Kantara 2 has more riding on it due to its scale. In comparison, the Jolly team will be able to recover investments comfortably, thanks to its limited costs and strong franchise appeal,” the report stated.

Currently, discussions are ongoing between Akshay Kumar, director Subhash Kapoor, and production house Viacom18 to lock in the final release date. An official announcement is expected in the coming weeks. With two big stars, witty courtroom banter, emotional drama, and a fan-favourite storyline, Jolly LLB 3 is definitely one of the most anticipated Hindi films of 2025.
