Hema Malini Expresses Pain Of Losing Husband Dharmendra Days After His Demise, Calls It 'Inconsolable Shock'

Hema Malini On Dharmendra's Death: The 'He Man' of Bollywood, Dharmendra, left for heavenly abode on November 24, leaving the entire film fraternity in shock. Particularly when, only a few days after being released from the hospital, the veteran actor greeted his admirers with a big smile. Hema Malini has revealed how terrible it was for her and her family to watch him struggle and eventually pass away days before his 90th birthday. She has opened up about the intensely emotional time surrounding Dharmendra's final days.

Hema Malini characterised the weeks spent by Dharmendra's side as 'terrible' and emotionally draining for the entire family in her first significant comments since his death on November 24, 2025. Speaking to The Times of India, she said, "The preparations were on, and then suddenly, he was not there. To personally see him sink was very difficult. Nobody should have to go through this kind of situation."

Hema Malini, who lived a long and joyous life with the late actor, recalled how, just before his health deteriorated, Dharmendra had even wished her a happy birthday in October. She recalled how difficult it was to say goodbye to her partner, calling it an 'inconsolable shock.' The Sholay actor mentioned that the month was awful because they were having a hard time when Dharmendra wasn't feeling well.

Hema Malini was constantly there, as were the late icon's children, Sunny, Bobby, Esha, and Ahana Deol. The devoted wife remembered how tenderly he would enjoy his favourite foods, such as coffee and thepla-chutney or idli-sambar, when they were prepared at home.

The actor-politician, who intends to return to work shortly, shared, "It is important for us to keep him alive in our hearts and memories" because that would make Dharmendra happy. In closing, Hema Malini mentioned that Sunny Deol intends to transform the late actor's property into a museum for his devoted fans.
