Homebound is a tale of dreams and friendship. It centers on two young men from a small North Indian hamlet who have the same aspiration as they grow up, to become police officers. They see the uniform as a means of gaining the respect they have been denied throughout their lives, not just a profession. However, as they approach their goal, they are put to the test in unexpected ways, and even their friendship is put to the test.
Homebound, which was produced by Dharma Productions and starring Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, benefited from Scorsese's guidance throughout its creation. Basharat Peer, Neeraj Ghaywan, and Sumit Roy collaborated on the screenplay, while Neeraj Dubey, Varun Grover, and Neeraj Ghaywan wrote the dialogue
Homebound garnered a remarkable nine-minute standing ovation at its international premiere at Cannes, and audiences reacted similarly at TIFF. The film has received accolades for both the lead actors' performances and its poignant narrative. For the unversed, the movie is director Neeraj Ghaywan's eagerly anticipated comeback to the big screen at Cannes, particularly ten years after his first feature, Masaan, debuted there and took home two prizes.
