Housefull 5 was one of the most widely distributed Hindi franchise, having been shown in 5000 theaters. Even though the comedy movie, which starred Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, and Akshay Kumar in the prominent roles, made a respectable amount of money, some viewers were nevertheless upset by the objectification of women. However, Tarun Mansukhani, the filmmaker, has addressed the criticism and isn't holding back.

Housefull 5 was criticised for objectifying its female characters, with many pointing out that the movie largely relies on the 'skin show' of the heroines. Tarun Mansukhani said in an interview with News18 Showsha that he sees the internet discussion as encouraging, particularly since it indicates that the movie is having an impact.

Housefull 5 director said, "I feel like that there’s a lot of scrutiny on social media. I also believe that scrutiny tends to only happen on successful films. You tend to keep quiet if a film isn’t working at all… So, when people are making noise about my film, I actually feel very happy about it."

Tarun Mansukhani added, "It means that they’re watching it with a certain eye and sensibility… For those who’re calling it out, I want to say that it’s your choice of seeing and focusing on that aspect of the film."

He went on to say that while viewers are allowed to understand the movie whatever they see fit, it is more than merely lighthearted. "One may choose to see a sexist side to it but I feel that I’ve done a lot more. If people haven’t seen the film, how will the plot details transfer to them? And when they see it, it’s the audience’s choice to focus on whichever aspect they want to," he shared.

Tarun Mansukhani clarified by going over the story's twists that the female characters are not only supporting cast members; rather, they are integral to the plot.

Many users expressed disapproval of the way the comedy series handled its female stars in Housefull 5. Compared to Soundarya Sharma, Sonam Bajwa, Jackqueline Fernandez, and Nargis Fakhri's air duct crawling sequence was more of a "eye candy" than a genuine character. A segment of the viewership has expressed disapproval, arguing that the women in the film just served to accommodate the masculine gaze.

A number of internet users have also compared Housefull 5 to adult comedies such as 'Grand Masti,' pointing to sexually suggestive and vulgarly humorous speech.

Housefull 5 Box Office Collection Report

Meanwhile, Housefull 5's earnings have been steadily declining since Monday as is typical for weekdays. Nevertheless, it maintained a 'strong run' by achieving double-digit collections on Monday and Tuesday. With an opening weekend total of Rs 87 crore, the comedy franchise earned more than Sooryavanshi (Rs 77 crore), making it Akshay Kumar's greatest first weekend following the Covid-19 pandemic.
