Idli Kadai Trailer: Idli Kadai offers an insight into a touching tale that centres on tradition and family. The Tamil family drama tells the tale of a boy who is attempting to preserve his family's heritage. The movie revolves around Murugan (Dhanush), whose father owns a traditional idli shack and has become estranged from him as a result of his desire for a lucrative profession in hotel management. Murugan must return home after being deceived to protect the family business and the values it upholds.

Idli Kadai's trailer began with Dhanush's character, Murugan, asking his father to purchase an idli grinder so that batter preparation would be simpler. Murugan's father, a fervent traditionalist who questions whether the taste would change, disagrees with his eagerness for efficiency. It is revealed that the locals adore and admire the family's idli kadai venue.

Dhanush recently stated during the audio premiere of Idli Kadai that his childhood fondness of idlis served as the inspiration for the movie's title. "As a kid, I always craved idlis every single day, but I couldn’t afford them. Hence, we started collecting flowers from the neighbourhood. The money we get will be based on the amount of flowers we collect every day. My sister, cousins and I would wake up at 4 AM to do this for over two hours. We’d get a little over Rs 2 each for the jobs," he said. 

Dhanush went on to say that the joy he used to get from eating idlis is nothing in comparison to what he gets now that he can buy them.

Idli Kadai Release Date

Dhanush is the writer, director, and co-producer of Idli Kadai, which is distributed by Wunderbar Films. He plays the lead in it as well. The movie, which will be released in theatres on October 1st, was also produced by Dawn Pictures. Rajkiran, Samuthirakani, R Parthiban, and Sathyaraj all have significant parts in the movie. The soundtrack for the movie was composed by GV Prakash. It will be published as Idli Kottu in Telugu.

Idli Kadai will be accessible in Telugu as Idli Kottu and is slated for theatrical release on October 1, 2025. The last time we saw Dhanush was in the multilingual crime-drama Kuberaa in Tamil and Telugu.
