Ileana D'Cruz was recently replaced by Vaani Kapoor in the Ajay Devgn-led Raid 2. The casting decision left many disappointed. The actress has finally explained why she was unable to return for the sequel.
Ileana D'Cruz, who portrayed Malini Pathak in the 2018 movie Raid, answered a fan's question during an AMA session. One fan stated that they missed her in movies, especially Raid 2. The Hindi crime thriller also starred Riteish Deshmukh, Saurabh Shukla and others in significant roles. "Missed you in Raid 2 and missing you in Indian films. When are you making a comeback?" read the question.
Ileana D'Cruz revealed that she was offered the role in Raid 2 but had to turn down because her priorities are different. "I miss working in movies too, and I would have loved to be a part of Raid 2. Raid was a special film, and Malini was such a special character to play. Working with my director, Raj Kumar Gupta, was a wonderful experience, as was working with Ajay again. The makers of Raid 2 did offer the movie to me, but unfortunately, we couldn't work out the schedule, given that I had just had my baby and my priorities are very different at the moment," she answered," she said.

Ileana D'Cruz also heaped praises on Vaani Kapoor for her role in the movie. "That said, I think Vaani looked lovely in all the promos I've seen and I'm sure she brought her own lovely charm to her character. Hope that clears any confusion," she added.
About Raid 2
Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, and Vaani Kapoor play the main roles in this Raid sequel, which is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. Rajat Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla, Supriya Pathak, and Amit Sial play significant roles in the movie. The movie, which opened to high expectations on May 1, 2025, made Rs 228 crore worldwide in less than a month.
