Despite being one of the most-famous rappers, Sean "Diddy" Combs' lawyers want him to serve his four-year, two month sentence at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security federal prison in New Jersey. Combs' lawyers urged Judge Arun Subramanian to "strongly recommend" this placement, highlighting the benefits of the program for Combs' recovery and rehabilitation. The rapper was convicted of transporting people across state lines for sexual encounters. He has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024. With time already served, he could be eligible for release in about three years. However, the final decision on Combs' prison placement rests with the federal Bureau of Prisons, which considers factors such as the severity of the offense, required security level, and an inmate's programming needs.

What is FCI Fort Dix?

The Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix, is a low-security federal prison in New Jersey, operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Located in Burlington County, it's part of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and houses male offenders. The prison has a satellite camp for minimum-security inmates and is divided into three compounds: the East and West Compounds, both low-level and a camp between them.

FCI Fort Dix is situated approximately 40 miles from Philadelphia, in the Fort Dix census-designated place and New Hanover Township, New Jersey. It's notable for being the largest single federal prison in the United States, housing a large number of inmates. The prison's location and facilities make it an important institution for the federal correctional system.

For the unversed, judge Subramanian hasn't made a decision yet on Sean "Diddy" Combs' request to serve his prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. While judges can recommend a facility, the final decision rests with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. They consider several factors, including:

- Severity of the Offense: The nature and gravity of the crime committed.

- Required Security Level: The level of security needed to ensure public safety and prevent escape.

- Inmate's Programming Needs: The individual's rehabilitation requirements, such as counseling, education, or job training.
