Sean "Diddy" Combs, the renowned hip-hop mogul, is set to be sentenced on Friday after being convicted of felony prostitution-related charges. In July, a jury found Combs guilty of violating the federal Mann Act by flying people across state lines for sexual encounters, including his girlfriends and male sex workers. Although he faces up to 20 years in prison, the judge has considerable discretion in determining the sentence. Combs was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, which could have led to a life sentence.

Prosecutors are pushing for an 11-year prison term, while Combs' defense team is advocating for a significantly shorter sentence of 14 months, considering time already served. In a letter to the judge, Combs expressed remorse for his actions, stating he's "lost my way" and is "humbled and broken to my core." His lawyers plan to present an 11-minute video showcasing his family life, career, and philanthropy during the sentencing hearing. Combs' family members and a minister are also expected to speak on his behalf.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, the U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, who is presiding over the case, has denied Combs bail on two occasions and indicated that his release from federal custody is unlikely in the near future. The judge remarked on Friday that although Combs was acquitted of certain charges, the ruling does not clear him of the underlying behavior, which included violence and coercion.

Prosecutors argued that Friday’s sentencing was centered on ensuring accountability for Combs and justice for the victims as well as the public. “This case is about a man who inflicted terrible harm on real people to satisfy his own sexual desires,” prosecutor Christy Slavik said. “It was never about financial gain—his real pursuit was power and control.”

According to BBC, all of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ adult children took the stand in court, breaking down in tears as they pleaded with the judge to allow their father to return home. Quincy Brown, 34, described Combs as a changed man who has evolved in ways unseen for over 15 years. Justin Combs, 31, asked the court to give his father a second chance, while 27-year-old Christian recalled how Combs taught him to respect women and treated his late mother, Kim Porter, like a queen. His 19-year-old daughter, Chance, spoke of the deep emptiness the family has been carrying, and 18-year-old twins Jesse and Delila appealed to the judge from the heart. Jesse reminded the court, “he is still our dad,” while Delila, overcome with emotion, begged that their youngest sister not be forced to grow up fatherless the same way they grew up motherless, pleading for the family’s chance to heal.
