Kantara Chapter 3: Big news for fans of Kantara! The makers have officially confirmed that the much-loved franchise will continue with a third instalment. After the release of Kantara: Chapter 1 on October 2, audiences were surprised with the reveal that another chapter is already on its way. The next film will be titled Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 2. The Kantara universe has quickly become one of India’s most talked-about cinematic projects. The first film, released in 2022, was set in 1990 and went on to become a cult hit. Now, Kantara: Chapter 1 has transported viewers more than a thousand years into the past, serving as a prequel that explores the deeper roots of the story.
Kantara: Chapter 1, produced by Hombale Films, is one of their most ambitious projects yet. With music by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, cinematography by Arvind Kashyap, and production design by Vinesh Banglan, the film has impressed audiences with its scale and emotional depth. The makers went all out with the visuals. A massive war sequence was specially designed for the film, involving both national and international experts. More than 500 trained fighters and 3,000 extras took part in the sequence, which was filmed across a 25-acre set built on rugged terrain. Shooting this alone took nearly 50 days, making it one of the largest sequences in Indian film history.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is set during the Kadamba dynasty, which ruled parts of Karnataka. This era is often considered a golden period in Indian history, known for its cultural and architectural achievements. By rooting the story in this time, Rishab Shetty has given audiences a glimpse of history blended with myth and folklore. In fact, back in 2023, Rishab Shetty had already hinted at how the films were structured. He revealed: “We are very pleased and thankful to the audience who had shown immense love and support to Kantara and taking the journey ahead, with the blessing of almighty Daiva the film has successfully completed 100 days and I would like to take this opportunity to announce the prequel of Kantara. What you have seen is actually Part 2, Part 1 will come next year.”
Meanwhile, since its release, Kantara: Chapter 1 has been met with a mix of reactions. While some critics felt it wasn’t quite at the level of a National Award-winning film, many agreed that it is visually stunning and emotionally powerful. With Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 2 now confirmed, fans are eager to see how Rishab Shetty will continue building this unique cinematic universe.
