Sonalika Joshi, best known as Madhavi Atmaram Bhide from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has been associated with the show for 17 years now. The actress has won people’s hearts with her subtle acting style and charismatic onscreen presence. She has done other TV shows like Gahire Paani and Aakash Peltana, but rose to fame with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Her character Madhavi is loved for the witty replies she gives to her husband Aatmaram Tukaram Bhide, and also for her optimistic approach to life.

Sonalika Joshi recently got candid and revealed a funny incident from her old days during a recent interview with Subhojit Ghosh. The actress recalled one of her memories from a photoshoot that stuck with her. She mentioned that she held a cigarette in her hand and posed for the camera, but somehow, people quickly assumed that she was a chain smoker.

“I was just holding it and sitting like that. I wasn’t even smoking. It was just for the style, for the pose. Then suddenly, so many things came out on YouTube - ‘I’m a chain smoker’ and what not," she said. But the actress maintained her calm as she didn’t want to pay heed to the rumours. She further added, “I said, let them talk. My family is my most important, my greatest asset. If they know how I am, then what difference does it make what they print?"

Sonalika expressed her disappointment and explained, “It was a proper photoshoot. The look was totally different. I wasn’t casually smoking with a group or playing Sonalika doing that. If they don’t understand that, let them talk. Maybe they’re enjoying it. Maybe their YouTube is getting views. Either they get some sadistic pleasure, or they just want to be judgmental. Let them.”

For the unversed, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is a popular TV show, which began in the year 2008 and has become one of the longest-running Indian television shows. With a huge and loyal fanbase, the show is currently enjoying its high TRP as the viewers love the present Bhootni track in the show.
