Kaantha Box Office Collection Day 1: Dulquer Salmaan and Bhagyashri Borse starrer period thriller movie released in theatres on November 14. The film received positive reactions from the audience and the critics. Despite good reviews, Kaantha earned less than Rs 5 crore. The film had a big clash with Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2. The clash might have affected the opening day collection. The movie needs to gear up its pace at the ticket windows to sustain at the box office for a long time.

As per Sacnilk, Kaantha earned Rs 4 crore on Day 1. The film had an overall 21.68 per cent Tamil occupancy on Friday. It had 14.60 per cent occupancy in the morning shows, 19.06 per cent in the afternoon shows, 18.62 per cent in the evening shows and 34.44 per cent in the night shows.

About Kaantha
The film is set against the backdrop of Madras in the 1950s. The film revolves around the life of a director named Ayya and his strained relationship with a film star, T. K. Mahadevan, who helped establish. When Mahadevan renames a female-focused film production that was previously called ‘Shaantha’ to suit his own image, to Kaantha, the story takes a different direction. Kaantha features Dulquer Salmaan as T. K. Mahadevan, Rana Daggubati as Inspector 'Phoenix' Devaraj, Bhagyashri Borse as Kumari, Samuthirakani as Chandran Ayya and Bijesh Nagesh as Babu. The movie has been written by Tamizh Prabha, Sri Harsha Rameshwaram and Selvamani Selvaraj. It has been directed by Selvamani Selvaraj and produced by Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati, Prashanth Potluri, Jom Varghese. The movie has a runtime of 2 hours and 43 minutes.
