Kannappa, starring Vishnu Manchu, Akshay Kumar and Prabhas, had a special screening at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The prestigious screening of Kannappa was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, who wanted to watch the storytelling of a legendary Lord Shiva devotee. Talking about the same, lead actor Vishnu Manchu, who played the role of Kannappa, tweeted expressing his gratitude. He stated that it was a proud recognition of its devotion-driven storytelling and cultural significance.

Kannappa is about an atheist hunter who turned into a devotee of Lord Shiva. He plucked out his eyes to put them on the bleeding Shiva Lingam to showcase his devotion. The movie features Vishnu Manchu, Preity Mukhundhan, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohan Babu, Mohanlal, Kajal Aggarwal and Madhoo in key roles. The film was released in theatres on June 27. After a few days of release, Manchu issued a statement where he claimed that the film was under a privacy attack. He claimed that over 30,000 links were taken down.

Notably, Kannappa has been directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu. The film had a collection of Rs 31.93 crore after 9 days of release. The movie was made on a budget of Rs 200 crore. It has a total runtime of 182 minutes. Sheldon Chau has done the cinematography of the film.
