Popular Punjabi singer Karan Aujla got into a huge trouble after his MF Gabru song sparked controversy over his the alleged usage of objectional language against women. The Punjab State Women’s Commission issued a suo moto notice and stated that the language of the lyrics are disrespectful and promote misogyny. It has directed Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab to do an inquiry and submit a report. Karan Aujla has been asked to appear before Punjab State Women’s Commission on August 11 at 11 am.
The controversy of the music ignited debates on social media over the portrayal of women in music videos and obscene lyrics in punjabi music. The official music video MF Gabru was released on August 1. It has been written, composed and sung by Karan himself. The musc video has been backed by Ikky. The video has already surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in just few days of release.

Apart from Karan Aujla, Honey Singh also landed in trouble as he also received a notice by Punjab State Women’s Commission over his song ‘Millionaire’. The singer also received suo motu notice by the committee over the song's content. A letter regarding this matter has been sent to the DGP to investigate the matter. After Karan Aujla, Honey Singh is set to appear before the Punjab State Women’s Commission on August 11 at 11:30 am. Both the singers have not released any officially statement regarding this matter.
For those unaware, Millionaire is the first track of Singh's music album Glory, which released in August 2024. The full album was released on the same date.
