8 years ago, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's intimate wedding brought the biggest and wildest change in the entire Indian wedding structure. People who once longed for lavish weddings swiftly marched towards low-key events. Reflecting upon this change, director Karan Johar recently shared his take on how weddings have almost turned into one of those 'secret missions'. During the conversation with Devika Narain, Karan stated why people opt for a hush-hush wedding away from the constant spotlight and highly publicised drama.

Karan Johar recently joined celebrity wedding planner Devika Narain, Bollywood actors Pulkit Samrat and Kirti Kharbanda for Manyavar and Mohey and reflected upon today's wedding scenario. Karan said, "The texture and DNA of weddings, especially destination weddings, have changed. I would give absolute credit to the Anushka-Virat wedding. The whole country woke up to this wedding; no one knew it was happening. It was a covert operation. From her wedding walk to the location, everybody fell in love."

Karan and Devika discussed how weddings are now about logistics and not extravagance. Devika mentioned, "Why that wedding changed the gambit was because people realised they could do whatever they wanted at weddings."
