Kim Soo-Hyun is facing a lawsuit from Cuckoo Electronics, a South Korean home appliance brand he's partnered with for over a decade, for allegedly breaching their advertising contract. The company is seeking 2.03 billion KRW ($1.49 million) in damages, citing public backlash from Kim's past relationship with late actress Kim Sae Ron as the reason for the contract breach. This isn't the only lawsuit; Cuckoo Electronics has also filed a separate lawsuit for 850 million KRW ($629,000) in damages.
Additionally, other companies, including a cosmetics firm, have filed lawsuits against Kim, with one company seizing his luxury apartment over unpaid penalty fees.
On May 2, Cuckoo Electronics filed a lawsuit for 850 million KRW (approximately $629,000) in damages. This move came after the company requested a seizure of Kim's assets worth 100 million KRW on April 24, which was approved by the Seoul Eastern District Court on May 20. The seizure targeted Kim's bank accounts and loans.
In a related development, Cuckoo Electronics, along with Cuckoo Homesys and another subsidiary of Cuckoo Holdings, has filed a separate lawsuit against Kim Soo Hyun and his agency, GOLDMEDALIST, seeking 2.03 billion KRW (approximately $1.49 million) in damages.
The case is being handled by the 22nd Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court, while the 850 million KRW claim is being reviewed by a different court division.
