King100: Nagarjuna Akkineni is all set to begin filming his next big project, tentatively titled King100. The film is extra special as it marks the veteran actor’s 100th appearance on screen. What makes it even more exciting is the buzz that King100 might bring back Nagarjuna’s former co-star and ex Tabu, after 27 long years. For fans, this reunion would mark a nostalgic return to one of Telugu cinema’s most admired onscreen pairs. Nagarjuna and Tabu first appeared together in Sisindri (1995), in which Tabu made a brief cameo. Their next outing, Ninne Pelladata (1996), directed by Krishna Vamsi, became a huge blockbuster and later seen together in Aavida Maa Aavide (1998), a comedy that opened strong.

According to reports in 123 Telugu, Tabu is likely to play a key role in the movie. While there hasn’t been an official announcement from the makers yet, sources suggest that the actress’s character will have strong importance in the story, making her return opposite Nagarjuna one of the most talked-about developments in Telugu cinema right now. The project, which has already gone on floors in Hyderabad, is being directed by Ra Karthik, who previously helmed Nitham Oru Vaanam starring Ashok Selvan. Reports also hint that the movie might be titled Lottery King, though the official name remains unconfirmed. Described as a family action drama, King100 is expected to be mounted on a grand scale, fitting for a milestone like Nagarjuna’s 100th film.

Interestingly, in King100, Tabu won’t be reportedly playing Nagarjuna’s love interest. Instead, she is said to have been offered a meaty and substantial role that forms a crucial part of the narrative. Director Ra Karthik was reportedly the one who suggested Tabu’s name, and Nagarjuna immediately approved it. Known for being selective with her projects, Tabu only signs films where her role holds depth and significance, a standard this project seems to meet.

On the work front, Nagarjuna was last seen in Coolie, playing a dark and intense antagonist opposite Rajinikanth. Meanwhile, Tabu has an exciting lineup ahead, including Bhooth Bangla with Akshay Kumar, directed by Priyadarshan, and another film with Vijay Sethupathi under Puri Jagannadh’s direction.
