The lineup for Lollapalooza India 2026 has been announced. The lineup included international names like YUNGBLUD, Kehlani, Fujii Kaze, Knock2, Sammy Virji, and LANY, followed by Indian acts such as Bloodywood, Prithvi Presents and Baalti. However, soon after the announcement, singer Sona Mohapatra voiced her disapproval, calling the lineup an example of “new cultural colonialism.” She criticised Indian audiences for prioritising global artists over homegrown talent, noting that if a music festival abroad featured Indian artists as headliners, it would likely see minimal attendance from non-Indian audiences.
Sona Mohapatra slammed the music festival for its lineup. She wrote on X, "Can you imagine a Music Festival happening in the USA or any other country with desi bands / artist lineup & any goras or any others apart from diaspora showing up if at all they do? I call this the new Cultural Colonialism & like the past , our own are the first to bow down."
